Flood Insurance Information

There's something everyone should know: Flood losses are rarely covered by your homeowners insurance policy.  We highly recommend purchasing a flood policy for your home or condo in South Louisiana.

Floodwaters have the power to damage not only your sense of security and your home, but also your financial future. How can you protect your most important investment in the event of a flood?

Option 1: Hope that you'll receive Federal disaster relief if a flood hits.
Many homeowners wrongly believe that the our government will take care of most of their financial needs if they suffer losses due to flooding. The fact is that Federal disaster relief is only available if the President formally declares a disaster. Even if assistance is offered, it's often a loan you have to repay, with interest, as well as your mortgage loan that you still owe on the damaged property.

Most importantly, you should consider the fact that if your house is flooded and disaster assistance is not offered, you'll have to bear the massive damage costs alone. The fact is that if you're looking for help from financial loss due to flood damage, our Federal government is not the answer.

Option 2: Buy flood insurance and stay protected no matter what.
When floods occur, flood insurance claims are paid even if a disaster is not Federally declared. Flood insurance means you'll be compensated for all your covered losses. And unlike Federal aid, flood insurance never has to be repaid.

Generally, a policy doesn't take effect until thirty days after you purchase flood insurance, unless you're in a flood zone, like the majority of South Louisiana. So, if the weather forecast declares a flood alert for our area and you go to purchase coverage, it's most likely too late.  We are proud to offer policies that cover Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Hammond, Thibodaux, or any other South Louisiana area that need flood coverage.
